Server economy

Two currencies, one coastline

Vice District is an original fictional city. Everything below is lore written for this project — no real institutions, brands or games are depicted.

The Blackout Ledger

Vice District grew rich on shipping, nightlife and the kind of money that prefers the coast. When the Meridian Clearing House failed, it took the city's payment rails with it. For eleven days the district ran on paper, memory and trust: dock manifests written by hand, club tabs settled in cash, deeds argued over in a courthouse whose servers had gone dark.

What replaced the old system was deliberately split in two. The city reissued city credits for daily life — fuel, rent, groceries, wages, repairs. Ordinary, plentiful, and endlessly circulating. For everything the city could not afford to get wrong, the Harbour Authority and the surviving trade guilds adopted a scarce settlement token: VDX.

VDX moves rarely and matters when it does. A deed on Palm Row. A restored chassis crossing an auction floor at 4am. A license that lets a venue open its doors legally. A championship purse. The district's rule is simple and unglamorous: credits keep you alive, VDX changes your position in the city.

Nobody in Vice District treats VDX as a fortune waiting to happen. It is a settlement instrument for a city that learned the hard way what happens when everything runs on one ledger.

Where VDX is used

High-value settlement only

Property deeds

Ownership records for apartments, workshops, venues and warehouses transfer in VDX.

Rare vehicle auctions

Limited chassis and restored classics are auctioned to the highest verified bidder.

Business licenses

Registered storefronts and venues renew their operating license in VDX.

Championship rewards

Seasonal circuits and tournaments pay out from a fixed VDX prize pool.

Governance polls

Community event polls weight participation by verified in-city activity.

Cross-season achievements

Long-horizon achievements carry across seasons and unlock rare rewards.

City credits

The everyday in-game currency. Earned from nearly every job and activity, spent on fuel, rent, tools, wages, insurance and repairs. Plentiful, inflation-managed by the city, and never leaves the server.

VDX

Scarce, capped and slow. Reserved for peer-to-peer settlement of things that hold their worth: deeds, auctions, licenses, championships and cross-season standing. Earning it is meant to feel like an event.
